BOOK REPAIR: Limp Vellum Book Repair with Pressure-Lid Quarter Leather Box

Limp Vellum Book Repair: including significant cover repair & losses of material using Japanese tissue, polyvinyl acetate, gelatin, & paste; & interior paper mending using Japanese tissue, paste, & remoistenable tissue. Some of the stains on this piece are permanent. Dry cleaning was done where possible. The piece was made complete, and brought to a usable level with a permanent storage solution. Box: Quarter goat leather pressure-lid clamshell box with a silver foil stamped goat leather recessed label. A pressure-lid box is appropriate in the case because it is able to hold the vellum down, a material that natural wants to curl back.
